Four ways to read the light.
Pick the right one for the shot.
Center-weighted
Point the rear camera at your scene. Pellica weights the reading toward the middle of the frame, the way most film SLRs meter.
Matrix
Reads the whole frame and balances its bright and dark areas into one exposure.
Spot
Tap the live preview to meter one small zone, a few percent of the frame. Turn on the Zone System display to see where shadows and highlights fall.
Highlight
Meters for the brightest part of the frame, so the highlights keep their detail.
ND and reciprocity, handled.
Pick your ND, from ND2 to ND10000, and Pellica gives you the corrected shutter speed. On long exposures it applies the reciprocity correction for the film on your roll, and can time the exposure for you.

Straight answers.
Accurate enough for film?
For most shooting, yes — especially with negative film, which has 12+ stops of latitude. Negative stocks are forgiving enough that small metering differences rarely show. For critical slide work where a third stop matters, we recommend a handheld. Pellica’s spot mode is good enough for most Zone System work.
Does it use the flash / LED?
No. Pellica reads ambient light only. Flash metering is planned for a future update — we will ship it to both stores the day it is ready.
Does it work in low light?
In a dim room, yes. In very low light the phone sensor’s noise starts to dominate and readings get less reliable, as with every camera-based meter. For concerts and night photography, bracket anyway.
Can I calibrate it against my handheld?
Yes. The meter has a calibration screen: set a fixed EV adjustment, or calibrate against a gray card or another meter, so its readings match your handheld.
Does the meter drain battery?
Not much. The meter only uses the back camera while its screen is open.
